Missing Pieces: Love
No one really wants love to be an emotional response to life's temporary satisfactions. If we were all to be honest with ourselves we are searching for things that will last, desiring deep in our soul to be pursued by love.
It's love that is unconditional. Love that wipes away our tears and cures those feelings of loneliness that we never truly want to be open about. Love that smiles back at you and me when we don't deserve grace.
We want people to love us. We want people to shatter the emotional baggage that we carry from our past. We fall in love with the idea of love. In the silence we long for love and companionship. We say the words "I Love You" so casually not truly thinking a second thought about it.
Love is someone waiting at the well for you. Love is someone seeing you drawing water in your jar. Love is someone seeing you and knowing you. Love is someone telling you of the Good News of what is to come. Love is someone watching you run away to tell of that Good News to someone else. Love is someone that sees that you left your jar, and is happy that you left it all at the well with Him. Love is Jesus.
But let's be real. Jesus is super cool but the reality is....
Afraid that if we can’t find a way to escape these thoughts that they will overcome us. Afraid that the heart behind our thoughts and views towards love will really be exposed. Afraid of there being one person that really knows us.
He is our missing piece. He's the whole cast. He's the author and writer of our fate. We spend years running from ourselves into things that really do not serve a real purpose in our lives. So many of us let the monsters of our past (and present) reside safely in our heart scaring away any chance we have at rest.
Some of us feel like we will be no good at receiving love. We don't want to relinquish the control and surrender that comes with receiving the fullness of God's love. That is us carrying that jar. Isn't it heavy? Maybe we have just grown so accustomed to carrying it that the weight has become the new normal.
I get the feeling that if you allowed yourself to be great and place down fear you would really like how being in love with Jesus feels. Take the step. Meet him halfway.

Father,
This jar is heavy with the weight of our past.
Help us to see you at the well.
Help us to see that your love for us is so real.
Let us see you are the missing piece.
Signed,
Falling in Love with Jesus
